Slumber in the Great Outdoors

Archive for August 19th, 2009

lightweight sleeping bagWhen you’re preparing for a camping trip, the location goes a long way toward dictating which supplies to pack. For instance, a hike through the mountains will require starkly different equipment when compared to a family outing at the campgrounds. Bear in mind that high altitudes equate to low temperatures. The choice of sleeping bag is particularly important.

Pay close attention to temperature ratings when selecting a sleeping bag. Cold-weather campers should choose a synthetic or down bag rated to 20 degrees. Those destined for warmer climes should be able to make do with a lightweight sleeping bag. Breathability is just as important as insulation; no one enjoys waking up soaked in sweat.
