When I arrived home late from work for what felt like the 50th time in a row last week, it finally occurred to me how much valuable time I had missed spending with my family. On one hand, I had been laboring to pay the bills and help them enjoy a decent standard of living. On the other, I felt like I barely knew what my kids were up to anymore. I brought up an idea, and my wife quickly agreed.
We decided to take a family camping trip to the Grand Tetons, where my father had taken me as a kid several times. I remembered the clear running streams, the elk sightings and the gorgeous sunsets. About a month ahead of time, I started scanning the Internet for sleeping bags for kids. I was somewhat ashamed that my kids did not yet have sleeping bags of their very own. Now all I can do is guarantee that they see plenty of use.
